In the Senate, courtesy of the Office of the Majority Leader:
Convenes: 9:30am
Resume consideration of HR4213, Tax Extenders.
Currently we have 3 amendments pending to the bill, the Sessions amendment #3337 (spending caps) [link] , the Thune amendment (business taxes) [link], and the Landrieu amendment (Go Zone) [link]. Senators Murray and Sanders will offer the next 2 Democratic amendments and Senator Bunning will offer the next 2 Republican amendments.
Roll call votes are expected to occur throughout the day on Wednesday.
Plenty more encouraging, congratulating and supporting slated for the House today, plus keeping students safe, which I think is something we can all get behind, but will probably be filibustered by Jim Bunning.
The Senate takes up the House's recently passed tax extender bill, to which Bunning has been granted the right to offer two amendments as part of his bonus package for having filibustered unemployment benefits and COBRA. Being crazy is good business!
In other news, today is Day 62 of the new zero estate tax rate! I really would have guessed that by now I'd have seen more jobs created protecting people from the big Obama gun grab, but I guess not. Anyway, the good news is that when it comes time to cash in on grandma at the end of the tax year, you won't be left out of the party for lack of guns, that's for sure!
Today's committee schedule appears below.
